Healthcare is not an isolated phenomenon of the public-political processes <\/span><\/span>of <\/span><\/span><\/span>change in recent decades. <\/span><\/span>The overall p<\/span><\/span><\/span>opulation\u2019s <\/span><\/span>health<\/span><\/span><\/span> status is defined by <\/span><\/span>a number of <\/span><\/span><\/span>determinants <\/span>which<\/span> make it face <\/span><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>numerous <\/span><\/span><\/span>significant challenges. Bulgarian healthcare <\/span>system follows <\/span><\/span>the population’s<\/span><\/span><\/span> needs and demands<\/span><\/span>, however it does not<\/span><\/span><\/span> fully cover them.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Chronic diseases are among t<\/span><\/span><\/span>he main challenges when it comes to <\/span><\/span>Healthcare<\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span> Whereas in the circumstances of global <\/span><\/span>epidemics<\/span><\/span><\/span> infectious diseases remain within the focus of national and international institutions. The various pathogens of pandemic potential <\/span><\/span>today pose even a bigger threat <\/span><\/span><\/span>to the national<\/span><\/span><\/span> and international security, as well as t<\/span><\/span>o<\/span><\/span><\/span> the <\/span><\/span>well-being<\/span><\/span><\/span> of our communities. Counteracting <\/span><\/span>it <\/span><\/span><\/span>should be <\/span><\/span>done<\/span><\/span><\/span> at all public levels with the participation of experts, political figures, citizens and civil organizations.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

  • \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/i>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe inaccurate resource distribution \u2013 the system with the so-called clinical pathways, the priority funding of large hospitals only in several district cities and leaving the other regions in the country uncovered. <\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
  • \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/i>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tChronic shortage of specialists. Somewhat more than half of the medical staff in Bulgaria is above 50 years of age, according to the EUROSTAT data for the third quarter of 2020. Given this figure, our country ranks among the first in the EU. The emigration of young specialists is driven by the low possibility for adequate professional specialization and realization in the country. This is viewed as a major risk when considering the system's future operation. <\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
  • \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/i>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tComprehensive personnel policy in healthcare. There are not enough opportunities for specialization of doctors, particular medical fields are favored on the account of others; unfair funding of the various medical specializations. <\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
  • \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/i>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tNo purposeful, result-based prophylactics. It is necessary the focus of healthcare to be shifted from treatment rather to prophylactics. <\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

    The organization works on the issues of public health, preventive, and social medicine, as well as vaccine preventable diseases. The expertise of the Astra Forum Foundation is supported by an Advisory Council, which includes researchers and practitioners in various fields of science, including medicine. Among the main tasks supporting the mission and objectives is the work on the national immunization calendar \u2013 mandatory and recommended immunizations and those applied under national programs.<\/p>
